It is almost comical how the Greeks and Trojans send spies out at the same time, with the same purpose to scout the enemy camp, and they run into each other. The young Trojan is naive and unprepared, too eager to seek a prize of which he is not worthy (Achilles’ horses and chariot). He is overmatched by Achilles and Odysseus, the Greek spies, and literally loses his head after giving up the location of the Trojan camp. It is interesting how the history of trophy exchange is noted, particularly of armor, weapons, and horses, showing that such recognition of honors is a significant aspect of a warrior’s identity.
